Long Island resident Alex Cooper had been a fit individual for many years when the pandemic struck and everything shut down.
That is when he got off course and started gaining weight.
“The fitness center was closed down, and I was stuck in the house,” states the 42-year-old, adding that stress and anxiety led to his weight gain.
However, in July, after about six months off, he was prepared to get back on the right track.
“I needed to get back into shape and developed a weight loss challenge to raise money for a couple of local charities,” he states.
Alex established a friendly contest together with his friend and fellow small business owner, Jason Anderson, in support of two great reasons: Dog Rescue and Children on the Go. The friends challenged each other to shed pounds while they contributed to the nonprofits. They made contributions based on pounds lost and likes on their Facebook posts. They motivated more to follow suit by getting in shape and contributing as well.
Throughout the August challenge, Alex dropped 12.5 pounds, beating Jason by 2.5 lbs, to weigh in at 199 pounds
“I was super happy to be under 200 pounds again,” Alex said
He has since continued on that trajectory, dropping a total of 18 pounds since. He states that his return to a “normal” program was great and credits to the program being really simple to follow along with.
